Christmas Fairy 2013 - Day 26

It's Christmas Eve! So, as per tradition, the fairy brought their Christmas Eve boxes, filled with a festive DVD, a snow globe, a mug and hot chocolate, a Santa key, a bubble bath set, socks, and new pyjamas :) We usually put in a cookie mix too but they want to make the cookies from the Santa book that was in their advent book parcel a couple of weeks ago so we're doing that instead. Oh, she brought some gold 'Fun' from Lush too, as that looked like ideal Christmas Eve fun :)

The Creeper held this suggestion...

And the final book parcel? Sprout has been looking forward to opening this shiny gold one the whole month...

And what else could it be but...

Merry Christmas everyone!

Christmas Fairy 2013 - Day 25

This morning the fairy had pantsed the Christmas tree :O

The Creeper advent calendar suggested this...

...so we did...

And the penultimate advent book parcel held some festive dogginess :)

Sunday 22 December 2013

Christmas Fairy 2013 - Day 24

The fairy had brought them all a Cardoo Christmas activity card each, which were great!

The advent book parcel was this little pop up book

And the creeper calendar, it being the last Sunday before Christmas and all, held this suggestion...

So we played pin the heart on the Grinch...

...and find the two-sizes-too-small-heart in the Grinch cube (I froze some haribo hearts into some green water).

The winner (Sprout) won a pot of Grinch pills (green tic tacs)...

Then we put on the original Grinch cartoon, drank Grinch floats (limeade with some extra green, with vanilla ice cream)...

...and ate Grinch cakes.

Happy Grinch Whobilation Day!

Christmas Fairy 2013 - Day 23

The fairy had been very busy in the night, setting up a masking tape road and racing her friends!

Squidge pulled this suggestion out of the Creeper advent calendar...

...so we downloaded a Christmas joke app...

...and they entertained us all :)

This activity book was in the advent book parcel, but we haven't had chance to look at it yet. Hopefully there will be something fun for the next couple of days!

Board Games and Muscle Names

While Sprout started on his new game (Skyrim), Squidge and Moppet played some board games...

...and generally had some fabulous silly fun :)

Sprout's other front tooth fell out (with a bit of bribery)...

...then we spent the day at Come into Play with friends.

Sprout caught me out with a riddle: how many holes are there in a polo? I said one, but clearly it's four :) I tried to counter with, "What building has the most stories?" but he didn't come down in the last shower and answered, "A library." :)
On the way home we were talking about the new Nintendo 2DS and why it wasn't going to be 3D, and went on to talk about the human eye and depth perception, and the way 3D films with glasses work.

Squidge has been playing some more with the anatomy puzzle block. He likes asking me the names of the different muscles and then we do the resulting movement :D

Moppet has been ninja-ing (note the terrifying blur of her swords :O )

Squidge and I went out for some one on one time and he chose to go for a salad and ice cream :) This is the beginning of his Minecraft ice cream world, the green smartie being a creeper :)

We finally got a clear night where the International Space Station was coming over, so we set and alarm to remind us and used the Night Sky app to help us find it. All three of them were very excited (well, Moppet more as a by product of the boys being excited, but still!)

Sprout started playing a Nutcracker app, and Squidge followed suit. Sprout was telling me the whole story, which was brilliant! He completed it within two days and was extremely pleased :)

Sprout's been playing again with the Elf yourself app, and finds much hilarity in putting objects or single eyes/ears etc in the frame instead of a face :)

We did some cooking of various treats for family's Christmas hampers, and Moppet was head tester :) We made truffles, ferrero rocher, and mint cake (a Christmas tradition from when I was a kid!)

After an afternoon of visiting with various extended family as we took cards and hampers round, we had a day at their grandparents' house where we built lots of Lego, played hide and seek, played the Whatever Next? board game, and experimented with whether heavier objects fell faster.

Sprout is engrossed in Starbound and Starmade at the moment, and anything else set in space. We've also watched 'zombie' snails on YouTube again as he's been thinking about what the aetiology of a zombie virus would be :)

Christmas Fairy 2013 - Day 22

This morning it looked like the fairy had been up all night putting some Christmas apps onto the boys' iPads and playing them :)

Moppet was pleased to find this pop up book in the advent book parcel...

...and Sprout pulled this suggestion out of the creeper advent calendar, so we're going to wrap up warm, get some hot chocolates, and go on a drive round the city to find the best Christmas lights.

I've got some really cool glasses to give them especially for tonight, that make festive-shaped bokeh with the lights! Photos really don't do justice to how awesome these are but I'm gonna share anyway, we've got reindeer...

...stars...

...snowflakes...

...and angels :) I can't wait!
