What passes for a quiet week round here...

After a really busy, out and about few weeks, we had some time at home planned this week, which saw...

Sprout building lots of permutations of marble runs (this one, apparently, is me)...

...Squidge still watching Peter and the Wolf a lot, this time in the company of his (uncle's vintage) Rock Lords. He's also been watching lots more karate class videos on YouTube, along with the newest Karate Kid film, and is really excited about starting karate lessons next week.

Moppet has been laughing lots, just not in this photo! (Party blower donated by Squidge)...

...lots and lots and lots of cardboard boxes, which have been dens, planes, trains, snails, and...

...their very own shop, Stinkbug Stores :D

Squidge has been playing at breastfeeding his zhuzhu pet...

...while Sprout has been drawing the universe (including Earth, the Sun, Saturn, Neptune, and the Minecraft world, and looking very like part of the ten to the power of eight view of this, which we hadn't seen before. Weird!)

We got the Logiblocs Super Inventor kit which both of the boys have been experimenting with a lot, seeing how they can connect it up to get the most lights lit and the loudest noise...

...and we picked up some Socker Boppers too, figuring they might be a fun way of getting the high impact, high energy activity that they both like, but that Sprout found also make a pretty awesome hat, or an insane pair of shoes :D

Sprout in particular has been enjoying playing Zoo Tycoon 2 which was delivered this week, and is currently constructing a giant tank to swim in. He's also been engrossed in Buildcraft for Minecraft, and has been working out how to make all sorts of different machines and how best to power them. I also managed to finally get the Too Many Items mod working for him, which he was over the moon about as he can now do much more on survival mode. We've downloaded the Cake Defense custom map this evening too which is his next challenge.

Meanwhile Squidge has been doing a lot of painting and gluing, and along with all the lovely new pictures we now have on the walls we have the excitement of seeing what colour paint and sequins get stuck to our feet each time we walk through the lounge :D He's also loved looking through the free How Nature Works booklets that came this week, and watching the Secrets of Our Living Planet programme that they accompany.

I don't think we'd ever go a whole week without going anywhere at all, so we did have a couple of days at soft play areas and the park.

Both boys industriously washed the car at the weekend too, so between us all we're definitely managing to keep it in a better state than our old one!

After much toing and froing over whether or not I thought it was a constructive thing to do, I also spent some time this week writing a submission for the government inquiry into support for home education, so I'll be interested to see what outcome, if any, it has.

After going to the bike shop with Gruff to get his bike fixed, they also both now have a renewed zeal for riding their bikes and are both keen to get their stabilisers off asap... watch this space!
